Insys: A new era of remote management, monitoring and control technologies
Westercom s.r.o. cooperates with INSYS Icom, a major manufacturer of communication equipment from Germany. We provide sales of products and also technical support at a high level.
The products of INSYS Icom are designed specifically for the demanding requirements of industrial production and are applicable in many industries. The solution offered by the manufacturer is very welcome by PLC programmers
who fine-tune their applications remotely or monitor their system on a daily basis. The
ideal system management concept for manufacturers of single-purpose machines, in engineering,
in the energy, water, complex industrial production processes
or automated buildings.
Interest in remote management or monitoring is growing every year. A simple, very efficient but most importantly secure
data connection brings savings in many ways. Financial costs for travel expenses and saved precious
time of technicians during trips to remote destinations. A perfect solution when
human resources are limited.
The routers can provide easy real-time data monitoring of production processes, allowing immediate response and
adjustment of production. In addition, the ability to analyze and collect data into the MES system (MQTT, SFPT client, OPC UA) or send alarms when an undesirable event occurs.
The INSYS routers support secure data connectivity using Virtual Private Networks (VPN). The manufacturer gives the highest possible priority to cyberspace security. The complete data hosting in Germany is ISO 27001 certified. The devices are fully certified and meet the necessary industry standards. The Insys Icon routers can be connected to via LAN (WAN), as well as via WI-FI or the frequently requested mobile operator network which ensures almost unlimited access anywhere in the world. The manufacturer even has special VPN servers
for Chinese destinations.
Secure connections using a VPN server can be resolved in two ways:
The first option is to use the fee-based Icom Connectivity Suite service. Using the backed-up Insys data
servers located in Germany, a secure data connection (VPN) can be generated between the
user and the remote technology with ease. The online connection is called "Session".
For registered routers on the Insys server, an annual license must be paid,
and this for each device separately. Attention! The first two licenses, i.e. IP addresses, can be registered for free. The Icom Connectivity Suite is not only a server,
but provides certain guarantees to its users. The operation of data infrastructure
often requires technical experts, and with ICS you minimize your operational worries.

Often, customers request to build their own VPN server that is on the user side. The customer runs and manages the server themselves. The manufacturer INSYS Icom is
one of the few manufacturers worldwide that still supports the option of a custom server. Third-party independence is often preferred by users in the critical infrastructure sector. Insys Icom provides its users with quality technical support when installing a VPN server at the customer's site. For a comprehensive Insys
Icom solution, we recommend the MRX3 and MRX5 devices with LAN connection to the Internet. These can be
used as a VPN server.
The Insys Icom service offers the ability to use the icom Data Suite
which allows the user to work with remote technology using protocols,
generate alarms, collect data, and control technology remotely.
Capabilities of icom Data Suite (IDS)
Protocol Transfer - Connection of control systems, sensors and controllers
from industry and energy. Convert proprietary protocols, cloud formats or unified control system interfaces. Retrofitting of existing systems.
Monitoring - Analyzing technical errors, anomalies and thresholds. Generating alarms and acknowledging reports. Detecting problems in advance, preventing outages, responding immediately in the event of a failure.
Data Logging - Collect and process data from control systems, inputs and sensors. Providing data for reporting, error analysis or CSV reports. Data evaluation using standard software (.csv format, e.g. Excel)
Cloud Services - Connecting cloud systems. Pre-integrated common IoT platforms and cloud service providers, possibility of generic access via MQTT protocol (Cumulocity IoT, Bosch IoT, Microsoft Azure, Telekom Cloud of Things). Event-driven data transfer, easy configuration. Use of data for product improvement, anomaly detection and predictive maintenance
Remote control - Control functions via external messages (email, SMS, MQTT or RPC). Switching of digital
and analogue outputs. Transmission of parameters to connected control systems
Customer can purchase one of the icom Data Suite (IDS) packages
Essential - administration, statistics, event timing, data handling + buffering, supports protocols
Modbus and interface for digital and analog inputs and outputs. Data transfer and alarms (MQTT,
Emails, SFTP, CSV).
Flexible - includes Essential + supports serial RTU communication IEC 60870-5-101 master,
uploading and storing data to the router called Data Logger, CODESYS, OPC UA client and Siemens S7 control system
connected via TCP or RTU.
Flexible PLUS - includes Essential + Flexible + supports IEC 60870-5-104 server and UPC UA server.
