New generation of circular network redundancy - FRNT 2
Reliable and Dependable:
FRNT, Westermo's proprietary protocol, revolutionizes the resiliency of switched networks. Its robustness is ensured by careful but efficient opening of alternative paths, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity without the risk of network loops and broadcast storms.
FRNT v2: Flexibility and Enhanced Capabilities:
The new FRNT v2 builds on a robust and reliable foundation and brings the ability to create more complex LAN structures. Imagine a large distribution ring network where you can add more sub-rings, expanding your LAN. This flexibility allows you to build larger LAN structures to accommodate distances and number of end devices, while maintaining the reliability of the FRNT network.
Most Powerful Circular Protocol:
FRNT v2 boasts the title of the most powerful circular protocol. Not only does it allow multiple circles to pass through a single switch, but it also ensures that the communication load of circle management, even with a large number of network elements, is less than 0.01%. This minimal load is critical for mission-critical applications where there is zero fault tolerance and maximum reliability is required.
Intuitive and Efficient:
Earlier solutions with FRNT (v0) and FRNT Ring Coupling (RiCo) were more complex and less intuitive. Now, with the integration of everything needed directly into FRNT v2, creating redundant LAN structures is simpler and more efficient, facilitating fast recovery in ring and sub-ring topologies.

Enhanced Port Monitoring:
New in version 4.28 is persistent port monitoring. Nowadays, most attacks on networks go undetected. With our port monitoring, you can eavesdrop on traffic, store it for later analysis, or perform real-time monitoring. This is especially important for critical infrastructures. With persistent monitoring, configurations are preserved even after a switch reboot, saving our customers time and effort.
