The fundamental requirement of today's society is energy. We need electricity to power our cities and factories. A power outage, even for a short period of time, causes chaos and leads to significant economic problems.

Reliable data transmission is absolutely critical to getting electricity from fossil fuels and renewable sources. It also plays an important role in electricity distribution and metering. By definition of the laws of physics, electrical voltages create electromechanical fields that interfere with data communication, so any network solution must be designed to operate under these conditions.

Data communication allows us to guarantee enough power for current consumption, but large-scale networking also creates the risk of cyber-attack, which must be balanced with adequate cyber-protection.
